It’s a wonderful time of the year and it’s very much a family time.
We all love getting together with our nearest and dearest at Christmas and after the restrictions of last year and the ups and downs of the past 18 months as a whole are expecting the festivities of 2021 to be even more special.
At Models Direct, we like nothing better than to celebrate the family – and our clients, from small, local companies to major high street brands, feel exactly the same.
Many of them are desperate to be able to feature real families in their advertising, which is why we are always on the lookout for mums, dads and children – and even grandparents – who are happy to work together.
So, as you gather with your family this festive season, why not discuss with them the idea of putting yourselves forward for family modelling?
Read about the experiences of our other family groups who have taken part in assignments for us.
Find out how they have appeared in everything from photo shoots for brochures, websites and product packaging to film sessions for advertising campaigns and promotions.
Think about opportunities for taking great family photography – you will need to send us some suitable images and, once you are on our books, we would like to update these regularly.
Taking seasonal shots at Christmas is ideal not only because you are all together but also because it offers the chance to have fun.
So why not organise some fun family activities and ask someone to take pictures of you at the same time.
Here are our suggestions:
1. Go for a winter walk. Choose a crisp, sunny day, with blue skies, and head out together wrapped up against the cold. Find a beautiful woodland, serene country location or even go to the beach, where you could have a game of cricket or rounders together. Take a series of shots showing you all playing, laughing and exploring your surroundings together. We love realistic, natural photography.
2. Make Christmas biscuits or cookies together. There are so many recipes for basic Christmas cookies out there. Little ones will love making the mixture with mum and dad or grandma. But the real fun comes after they are baked, and you all sit round the table decorating them together. Most supermarkets sell coloured icing, silver balls and other edible festive decorations you can stick on. Make sure you cut a hole through the top of each one before baking then you can thread a ribbon through and hang them on the tree. The happy family scene around the table as everyone has a go could make for some great pictures.
3. Make your own Christmas crackers. This is another great festive craft activity and the fun starts when you all go out together to choose the coloured paper, stickers and ribbons you would like to put on your own crackers. Hobby and craft shops, and online stores, also sell the cracker snaps to ensure each one goes with a bang. Decide whether to make your own mini gifts for the inside or to choose bought surprises for your family. Write your own jokes and make your own Christmas hats. This not only makes for a great family activity, with superb opportunities for excellent shots, but you will also get some great family photos when you pull the crackers together on Christmas Day!
