Capturing festive shots of your child

Do you think “festive” means “at Christmas time”?

Well, we all use the word more often in the run-up to Christmas than at any other time of the year. Christmas is the busiest month by far – as well as the most lucrative for a lot of brands. Christmas allows a lot of families some quality relaxation time together…or lavish celebration, depending on your preference. We’re all in a “festive” mood in December.

But “festive” simply refers to a festival or celebration. The Latin word festum indicates a festival or holiday (often including sumptuous feasts) – but we only really use the word “festive” during the Christmas period. It’s a shame really, as by definition we could all experience festivities on numerous occasions throughout the year!

Adults deserve a welcomed rest come holiday times. For the children, holiday times are more exciting. They can get together with friends outside of school, and parents may allow them to dress up, play party games and eat what they want. No wonder children look forward to any festivities!

Households usually spend more money during festivities. Christmas bookings for child models increase for obvious reasons. Whilst some adults forfeit the obligatory Christmas presents, it would be unfair to deny any child the sheer joy of opening presents on this magical day – whether they believe they were delivered by Santa or lovingly placed under the Christmas tree by parents.

So, it’s beneficial for child models to show us and our clients how “Christmasy” children can look. Update their Models Direct portfolios with photos or reels of them in festive clobber, eating Christmas food or just enjoying the winter climate. Any image that shows us that parents are taking their child’s application seriously will go a long way.

As we’ve said, capturing festive shots of your child shouldn’t be limited to Christmas.

We’ve supplied child models to various top brands for their Easter campaigns; again, this time of the year is big business – mainly for retail companies. Plan your calendar to update your child’s qualities that reflect the time of the year.

Halloween is another important time of the year for business. Whilst we might not celebrate it as much as Christmas and Easter, Halloween is undeniably popular for a few days at least, and retailers stock up their spooky goodies weeks in advance of late October. Children enjoy Halloween because they love to be scared and receive sugary delights, so why not combine the two and take photos of your little ones displaying their ghoulish qualities? It’s what our clients want to see, and it could make a huge difference in their selection process.

But that not’s where the demand for child models ends. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are both big-hitters with retailers. How about planning your updated portfolio snaps with parent: child images to get our client’s attention?

Festive shots shouldn’t be restricted to the run-up to Christmas. Think big, plan ahead, and get your children involved!
