…and relax.
We all need time to sit back and reflect on times gone by. The past couple of years have been gruelling and frustrating in equal measure, so we’ll excuse anyone wishing to return to normal circumstances.
That’s better, isn’t it?
Restoring routine gives us a sense of familiarity. We can look forward to stability – both mentally and in our work. We hope to be at ease with ourselves, and to being content at just being ourselves. It’s not a lot to ask.
Being genuine and unassuming really does pay dividends in commercial modelling. Obviously some assignments require our models to dress up and act, portraying a character to help brands really “come alive” and appeal to a broad audience, but other bookings call for models to be their natural down-to-earth selves. These everyday bookings can suit almost anyone, and are some of the most effective marketing gigs around. No wonder hundreds of our clients constantly come to us asking for the cream-of-the-crop of models who are confident in being themselves.
So, what sort of modelling jobs are available that call for pragmatic models with a self-belief to be themselves on set?
The answer: quite a lot!
A great example to get the juices flowing is our small group of first-time models, who were chosen by Transport for London for a photo shoot. As one of our models, Bradley, commented, “It felt like I was talking to a bunch of friends and not a photographer and models. Which made it a lot easier to get involved!” Being yourself (sociable and chatty) was the key to the assignment, as Transport for London were looking for models who appealed to the general population. There were no “airs and graces” and no pretence; just a group of happy models doing their stuff!
Another setting that is familiar with everyone is at a bustling supermarket (unless you opt for online shopping!) A lovely family were needed during one of the national Covid lockdowns to shout from the rooftops that customers could still dine in at all of Morrisons’ cafés, thanks to the new menus and safety procedures. Is there a more apt setting to be yourself than at a supermarket? Our gifted Semedo family thoroughly enjoyed helping at Morrisons simply by being themselves. Not bad for a day’s work, huh?
Are you a parent or guardian with presentable, chatty children? We’re always happy to hear from parents with gifted little ones who can be themselves in front of cameras…just like our Jet 2 campaign to tempt younger passengers with in-flight meals. There was no trickery on board here – just level-headed aspiring models acting natural. What’s not to like?
Search our jobs, and see if any tickle your fancy. Being yourself on set can open doors to plenty of more jobs. It could involve being approached by the public on a promotional modelling assignment, or riding a bike for commerce / council campaigns. Who knows what you’ll discover? Often, being yourself is the only way to be!
