“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players”.
So goes the famous Shakespeare quote, and it couldn’t be truer when it comes to social media in the 21st century.
The world can be a stage, but there needs to be someone viewing the content to make it relevant.
For a while now, we’ve been taking full advantage of social media to promote our agency, our clients, and ourselves – and why not?
Why not, indeed, as the numbers speak for themselves. Ever since we launched ourselves on the best social media platforms, the number of views has escalated, and the numbers of followers have increased. Take a look at these figures for four media platforms and decide for yourself:
· YouTube – We joined the YouTube fraternity in 2009, and there have been 115,000 views since. Essential watching for anyone connected with the commercial modelling industry, or just for the plain curious!
· Twitter – Since 2009, we’ve accrued 6,500 followers, who love to be updated with the latest news, gossip and trends.
· Facebook – Since joining in 2010, nearly 44,000 people have followed us. That’s some going, right?
· Instagram – The bible of photo social media, we now have 36,000 Instagrammers (that’s not a fabricated word – it appears in the Cambridge Dictionary!)
We can only predict that the numbers will continue to rise, and that social media will keep growing. Though social media is not the main method we choose to promote the range of talents of our models, it’s undeniably easy and effective, and looks set to develop more, just as our models do.
As vast as our social media following is, we want to encourage models to actively join us by sending us short videos – the subject of which could be anything that might tickle the interests of the commercial modelling world. The clips could be introductions, or how you or a friend first took the plunge into the modelling world. They could be fashion recommendations, or feedback from a recent Models Direct assignment. Maybe you’d like to divulge a unique experience and wish to share a photo with us, so we, in turn, can upload your images to be viewed by the thousands of our Models Direct Instagrammers, Facebook friends or Twitter disciples. As another famous quote goes, “The more the merrier”, so we want to make our social media platforms a stage from where you can increase your awareness to other models and our clients.
Models need to put in the hard work to achieve the best results, and being part of our social media is a hassle-free self-promotion tool that could pay dividends once you’re known by our followers!
Even just talking in front of a camera about your love of modelling (or at least your enthusiasm if you are yet to set out on your first modelling assignment…) will get others talking, so don’t be shy and send us your clips, reels, photos or videos.
Impressive results are often achieved from modest beginnings, and the start of your relationship with us could begin with you being part of our social media platforms.
We – and thousands more – look forward to seeing your views, clips, ideas and intros!
