As we hit the summer period, we usually tend to see a rise in baby modelling opportunities, and this year has been no different. The baby boom brings with it fun and excitement, revolving around more prospects for tiny tots in marketing and advertising campaigns for photoshoots, catalogues, commercials and TV extras.

Call the Midwife called us for our babies
Very recently, we had an enquiry that premature babies needed to be cast for BBC One’s ‘Call the Midwife’ – a touching tale set in the 50s and 60s of London’s East End where midwives welcome new lives. The casting directors approached our company and selected our babies to be booked and star in the series, which has been extremely popular since it was first aired in 2012. This certainly was a thrilling experience and proud moment for parents and family to see their little ones make it on the telly. Now, we know that child models can use modelling as a great stepping stone to further their career in the entertainment industry, but to start modelling from an even tender age is quite something!
Not only this but parents and babies can work together in the same social bubble given the climate we are currently in which helps simplify the booking process for a modelling assignment. Even with the world opening up and restrictions easing, Models Direct intend to continue to keep our models safe with continued measures such as masks, hand sanitisation stations and social distancing. We value our models and their good health and wish to implement this until we feel confident that there are no risks to our models’ wellbeing.

Our focus is on our baby models in this read, but we thought it would be a good idea to splash in some information about maternity modelling too. First off, for those who are expecting, a massive congratulations from all the Models Direct team – we wish you a healthy, positive and relaxing experience. Next up, this modelling division (maternity) is linked closely to baby modelling, where our pregnant models have gone from being called for jobs then being invited for post-birth work with baby in tow.
