All modelling agencies should embrace diversity

Long gone are the days when models conform to certain stereotypes.

Models are now expected to represent real people – and if you are tempted to join an agency that tells you anything else, then be very wary.

Here at Models Direct we not only have some 35 years of experience at the heart of the modelling industry, but we are also fully vetted and accredited by the government.

So, while you can rest assured that we conform to all necessary legal requirements, you can also be encouraged by the fact that we always go above and beyond.

We embrace diversity because we love working with people of all appearances, sizes, nationalities and beliefs.

We celebrate models of all looks, ages, backgrounds, heritages and body shapes – men, women and children, including those with disabilities.

This is who we are as individuals and this is at the very heart of our company.

This is the way we work all the time – celebrating differences and bringing people together.

Models Direct understands that the future of modelling lies in being able to supply our growing list of clients with a rich variety of eager individuals.

And we are busy doing this every hour of the day.

You only have to read more of our blogs and peruse our review pages to see the incredible variety of models and clients we work with.

You will also see how well supported they all feel by our staff here at Models Direct and how much they enjoy working with us.

Modelling is a team effort – between our professional, experienced agents, our wide variety of clients and our amazing, diverse, hard-working models.

These days advertisers have wised up to the fact we are all different and we should be allowed to be who we really are.

This is why they love to be offered models who reflect that.

For example, our clients are aware that there are currently some 16 million disabled people in the UK and that they form a significant portion of their consumer base.

They therefore want to appeal to them as well, both in the products and services we all enjoy as well as those that at specifically aimed at them.

Models Direct is at the top of its game and a leader in the field when it comes to diversity.

Here is some of the feedback we have received from our models on the subject…

Wheelchair-user Alex took part in a photo shoot at Heathrow Airport for us.

He said afterwards:

“It was simple from the start.

“Everywhere was accessible, parking was easy and directions and contact info were both provided.

“I hope to promote diversity and inclusion as a wheelchair-user in more campaigns.

“Many thanks to everyone – it’s been a privilege!”

Neri is one of our plus-size models.

She accepted an assignment to work with production company Maverick TV and told us:

“This was a last-minute assignment, that ended up being one of the most empowering experiences since becoming professional.

“I got to work with four of the most beautiful confident ladies, a fantastic film crew and the man with the naked plan, Gok Wan.

“Not only did we help others feel confident, but it also reinforced how confident I am with my own body.

“From the costume designer to the makeup artist and the runners, everyone was so welcoming and worked so hard to make sure we felt relaxed and comfortable in the environment.

“Gok was lovely and gave direction really clearly. He was so fun and we all had such a giggle.

“The assignment went really quickly and Molly was so supportive.

Such an exciting experience. I’m so glad I was accepted and thank Molly for putting her trust in me and putting me forward.”
