Some things are better with two people, and this theory works particularly well in modelling jobs.
We’ve seen a rise in family modelling, suggesting that clients need closely-knit groups to get their campaign’s message across to the consumer. This can be observed in some of our recent promotions for family meals (e.g. Holland’s Pies), chateau breaks abroad (e.g. Oliver’s Travels), the NSPCC, notable electronics brands…and several more.
An “offshoot” of family modelling is couples modelling. Though photogenic couples with children are just as likely to secure a modelling job as those without offspring, the number of women decideding not to have children in the UK has increased.
Perhaps some women and men put careers ahead of anything else. Maybe they don’t just don’t have time for children. Individual reasons are not as important as stating that there are many good modelling jobs out there for couples without children. After all, children are not a necessity!
So, couples with children can make great models by themselves, and should be encouraged to apply as models (cue ringing around for babysitters!) Also, a couple who haven’t previously met can still produce great results on promotional assignments; as long as they “click” and are compliant, it’s a thumbs-up.
But “real” couples are always more preferable. This is because their actions and emotions are usually more evident due to an established natural chemistry. A real couple’s charisma in front of a camera isn’t forced; their behaviour is normally more effortless.
Thousands of couples haven’t yet realised their modelling potential. An obvious temporary advantage is that most of them have a “social bubble” by living together, thus eliminating any Covid-related complications (with any luck, we won’t have to refer to Covid for much longer…). We often have commercial family modelling assignments on our books, with wonderful clients on the lookout for couples who can dazzle them with their skills. Needless to say, couples who don’t have children of their own can still feature in family modelling shoots with child models. The two greatest attributes a childless couple can have are a presence on screen, and the ability to realistically connect with children. Who knows – you could be “parents” before you intended to be!
Themes for couples modelling are wide-ranging. Mortgage providers for first-time buyers, holiday operators and bridal companies all need the best couples in their promotions. But it really could be just about any assignment that requires two compatible adults. To celebrate a successful modelling shoot, perhaps your partner will pick up the restaurant tab as you discuss progressing in your new-found modelling careers!
It’d be beneficial to include some feedback from modelling couples. Christina and Elliott were filmed during lockdown in London for Sky Sports. Once the safety regulations were followed, the couple got down to business and thoroughly enjoyed their work in the “Big Smoke”. It could hardly have gone better for the beaming duo: “My partner and I had our first job with Models Direct today and had a great time. The team was so professional and our colleagues from Models Direct were super friendly and made us feel so comfortable. Charlie, our booking agent, has been great with communication throughout and we really hope to get another job soon! Excellent experience!”
On a recent assignment for Aviva, Dinesh and Kastur relaxed at a local hotel to combine business and pleasure (although, even if we do say so, the “business” side of it was a “pleasure” as well!). What better way for a couple to remember a superb day out by staring in a modelling shoot and then celebrating in a hotel? “Thanks – we had a great day on our couples photo shoot. I have done a few jobs before for Models Direct, but for my husband this was the first time modelling. He really enjoyed it and the production team were just great and made you feel relaxed. My hubby is now looking forward to doing more couples jobs!”
Clients embrace couples of any gender or ethnicity; the bigger the diversity the better. Get in touch with us to see how you and your partner could soon be spending some quality time together…as models. A celebratory bottle of champers or slap-up meal would definitely be advisable. Just don’t argue about who pays!
